JAKARTA (June 30, 2022) - Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, Salahuddin representing the Director-General of Social Rehabilitation, Pepen Nazaruddin, attended a Working Meeting with Commission X of the House (DPR RI) to discuss the Bill on Education and Psychological Services.

 

Bill on Psychological Education and Services (RUU PLP) has been approved by the government and Commission X of the DPR RI to be later ratified in a plenary session, it is hoped that this bill will produce more professional psychologists. DPR-RI Commission X, Dede Yusuf explained that today's agenda was to discuss and determine the change in the title of the bill, mini-Faction opinions, government views, decision-making, and signing of the bill on Education and Psychological Services.

 

The working meeting and discussion began on March 22, 2021. On its way, the Psychology Practice Bill has worked for 8 sessions, namely from March 30, 2021, to June 30, 2022. The government previously submitted a 673 Problem Inventory List in a meeting on 22 March 2021 ago. The title of the bill submitted at the meeting was entitled Psychological Practice. In addition, in the working meeting, it was agreed to form a working committee for the Bill on Psychological Practices consisting of a working team from DPR RI 29 people and the government team of 25 people.

 

The Chairperson of the Bill Committee, Hetifah Saefudin, explained that Commission X DPR RI conducted a deepening and enrichment of substances on the Problem Inventory List submitted by the government during the 2020/2021 session. In general, after the promulgation of this bill, it can improve the quality of psychological education, psychological services, the competitiveness of human resources, and welfare, and this bill provides legal protection and certainty for psychologists. One of the representatives from the Government who attended the meeting was MoSA.

 

The Minister of Social Affairs who was represented by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, Salahuddin in his opinion explained that this was a very historic momentum and Commission X DPR RI as a working partner for MoSA, in line with the changes and implementation of the new SOTK (Organization Structure Working Procedure), at MoSA consisting of Social Protection, Social Security, Social Empowerment and Social Rehabilitation.

 

Especially in the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation, MoSA has an Integrated Center and Centers in the regions in which of course the role of Psychologists is needed to provide services to PPKS (Social Welfare Service Recipients), he stressed. Commission X of the DPR RI and the Government received a report from the Chair of the Working Committee and the Bill on Psychological Education and Services as a result of the Working Committee meeting on June 29, 2022, Commission X of DPR RI and the Government agreed on the title of the bill to become a Bill on Education and Psychological Services.

All factions and the Government accepted and approved the draft of the Bill on Education and Psychological Services, which was continued for discussion at level II in the plenary session of DPR RI to be enacted into law. The Working Meeting was attended by representatives from MoSA, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
