BRSAMPK "Handayani" Participates in Conference to Disclose Alleged Exploitation of Children
JAKARTA
(25 February 2021) - Head of the “Handayani”
Jakarta Children's Center, Hasrifah Musa and the Head of the Sub-Directorate
for Children Needing Special Protection (AMPK), Mas Kahono Agung, attended a
press conference to reveal the alleged exploitation of Children held by
Sub-directorate 5 Renakta Ditreskrimum Jakarta Police Office.
Previously, “Handayani” Children Center had received six referral children
from Police Office on Friday (5/2).
The press conference was opened by the Head of Public Relations of Jakarta
Police Office, Kombes Pol Yusri Yunus. In his statement, he said that there
were allegations of exploitation of children. Yusri said 10 reports were submitted during 2021.
"Of the 10 reports, we secured 286 people. For 91 people were children
with various roles and 195 adults. The suspects were 15 people, their roles
were as pimps, most of whom were children," he said Yusri in front of the
reporters who were present.
Furthermore, Kombes Pol Yusri said the perpetrators of this crime would be
charged under Article 88 Jo 76 I of Law No. 17 of 2016 on the protection of
children with a maximum imprisonment of 10 years.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Children's Center, Handayani, said that the party had provided services to victims and children in conflict with the laws
in the Hall.
"Not only child victims, but we also assist children in
conflict with the law. Of course, with different treatments," said
Hasrifah.
In this case, continued Hasrifah, the Hall has carried out social
rehabilitation by implementing standardized case management which is part of
children's attention. Hasrifah also emphasized that the rehabilitation process
involves professionals such as social workers, psychologists, and medical teams.
Besides, coordination and cooperation with other parties continue.
"Of course, in the rehabilitation process we cannot do it alone, we
coordinate with other parties such as law enforcement officials and health
services," he explained.
Hasrifah said that the services provided are not easy because the expected
result is a behavior change. Also, the Hall concentrates on the
future of children after this event, especially when they are in the community
later.
"Their average age is 17 years old, and this is the age where they
should be ready to carry out their functions and roles in society, according to
their growth and development," he said.
