BRSPDI "Nipotowe" Sharpen the Abilities of Persons with Disabilities
AMBON (November 4, 2019) - The implementation of the partnership activity for the Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities (BRSPDI) "Nipotowe" in Palu with the Maluku Provincial Social Service entered its second day. The activity which was carried out at SLB Leleani Ambon was attended by 15 service recipients.
The second day's activities provided occupational therapy and livelihood therapy. Occupational therapy is carried out to hone the sensory and motor skills of service recipients.
Sensory abilities are honed through hulahoop relay games that rely on cooperation, speed of thought, and balance. Barriers to development of children with intellectual disabilities are usually accompanied by slow motor and sensory development. Therefore, officers provide occupational therapy to hone these skills.
Social workers and social instructors accompany service recipients to take part in livelihood therapy starting with a video screening of vocational activities in the Hall. This aims to motivate service recipients to believe they are able to do so.
In addition, the officers provide vocational training on making rags from rags. Apart from being cheap, patchwork is also easy to get. Moreover, the quality of the doormat with rags is more absorbent in water so that many people prefer it.
