BANJAR (June 20th 2020) - The efforts and commitment of the Elderly Social Rehabilitation Center (BRSLU) “Budhi Dharma” Bekasi in handling the risk of the impact of COVID-19, especially the elderly, continues to be carried out. Through the center's refocusing budget, there are 450 basic food packages valued at Rp. 300 thousand / package distributed to the elderly through 11 (eleven) Elderly Social Welfare Institutions (LKS LU) in Ciamis Regency, Pangandaran and Banjar City.
The symbolization of the distribution of 200 basic food assistance packages was carried out at the Ciamis Regency Social Service and 250 basic food packages at the Social Service for Women Empowerment and Child Protection in Banjar City.
The Bekasi "Budhi Dharma" Center Team was warmly welcomed when they arrived at the Ciamis Regency Social Service. Present at the social assistance distribution activity, the Secretary of the Ciamis Regency Social Service, the Head of the Social Assistance and Protection Division as well as representatives of 5 LKS LU Galura, Ringkang Galuh Rancage, Raudhatul Jannah, Miftahul Ridwan, and LKS LU Kesuma Galuh Kamulyaan. Nandang Nugraha, secretary of the Cianjur Regency Social Service, expressed his gratitude for the assistance of basic food packages for the elderly in his area. "Hopefully LKS can use it, especially the elderly, because the elderly are vulnerable during the COVID-19 epidemic," he said.
The head of LKS LU Galura, Evie Widayanti, received 40 food packages, expressing her gratitude and hope that the Bekasi "Budhi Dharma" Center will continue to work together with LKS LU in providing services to the elderly.
A bright smile appeared on Yati's grandmother's face when she received her food package, "Thank you very much, I was very happy, yesterday I could only see other people receiving rice, now I get this (basic food package)," she said.
Furthermore, at the Social Service for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection in Banjar City, the distribution of social assistance for 125 basic food packages for the elderly assisted by 3 LKS LU in Banjar City and 125 packages for the elderly assisted by 3 LKS LU in Pangandaran Regency was attended by the Head of the Banjar City Social Service, Asep Tatang Iskandar "Thank you for the basic food package assistance provided by the Bekasi "Budhi Dharma" Center, very useful for the elderly, I hope the COVID-19 situation will end soon and return to normal, the elderly are always healthy," he said.
The BRSLU “Budhi Dharma” Bekasi team assigned to distribute basic food assistance affirms the commitment that the government especially the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, is present in the community to face the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. And LKS LU in Pangandaran Regency is the last regency in the series of distribution of basic food assistance with a total of 3038 food packages as a result of refocusing the budget of the COVID-19 epidemic impact center.
