BANDUNG (November 13, 2020) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the Bekasi "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center held a Benchmarking activity for all elderly social rehabilitation implementers at 4 Elderly Social Welfare Institutions (LKS LU) Bandung City.

As an initial step to maximize the implementation of Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) for the elderly in 2021, which focuses on 3 things social rehabilitation services, namely family-based services, community and residential services, Elderly Centers need to improve social rehabilitation services and prepare for ATENSI development by Benchmarking to Centers/Agencies and LKS that handle the elderly. The goal is to equalize perceptions, observe, imitate studies and exchange information on management of social rehabilitation services, information systems, Human Resources (HR), facilities and infrastructure, as well as programs developed by Centers/Agencies and Social Welfare Institutions for the elderly (LKS LU) in the coverage area of "Budhi Dharma" Center in Bekasi

The Head of Sub-Division of Administration, Dewi Kania conveyed her message in the implementation of Benchmarking or copy study.

"The Benchmarking team or copy study has different tasks, later they must be able to observe, imitate and then innovate in accordance with the main tasks and functions of employees. LKS LU will be visited with a small number of human resources but maximum services for the elderly. We must be able to imitate how to serve the elderly, how to keep the distinctive aroma of the elderly so that it smells good, how to serve food and imitate other good things. Bandung is the first city for the benchmarking destination and will be continued in other cities/districts according to the mapping,” said Dewi.

The Bekasi "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center team of 20 people was welcomed by the Head of the Social Rehabilitation Section for Children and the Elderly of the Bandung City Social and Poverty Alleviation Service, Pipin Latifah after handing over the distribution of basic food assistance for the elderly to 6 LKS LU in Bandung City. Pipin expressed her willingness and gratitude to "Budhi Dharma" Center Bekasi for choosing Bandung as the benchmarking site, namely PSTW Budhi Pertiwi, Wisma Lansia JS Nasution, Pondok Lansia Tulus Kasih Foundation, and PSTW Senjarawi Salvation Army.

Welcomed by LKS LU in Bandung, the team was divided into 4 groups to 4 LKS LU to carry out visits, learn and share experiences. One of the LKS LU in Bandung, the Pondok Lansia Tulus Kasih Foundation specifically serves the elderly who have problems with disorders due to illness and require special care, providing services and physical, spiritual and social protection services to meet the needs of the elderly so that they can enjoy a reasonable standard of living.

The chairman of the Pondok Lansia Tulus Kasih Foundation in Bandung, R. Gina Veterani, said that serving the elderly requires more patience, great gratitude and learning a lot about the meaning of life from them. The elderly who had a stroke with song therapy were able to speak and sing again, although they were stuttering because of the memories and memories in their lives.

Furthermore, "Cleanliness and nutrition of the elderly must be maintained so that elderly is healthy and smells good because the room is always cleaned at least 3 times a day using an antiseptic, as well as clothes and companions' love after taking a bath, they must smell good so that they are enthusiastic," added Gina.

The same thing was conveyed by the management of PSTW Budhi Pertiwi in Bandung City in dealing with the elderly as long as you can, continue to do good, love the elderly.

This activity can be the first step for the development of a residential-based service synergy that can be applied by "Budhi Dharma" Center in providing social rehabilitation services for the elderly.
