SERANG (September 11th 2020) — Head of the Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities (BRSPDI) “Ciungwanara” Bogor, Esa Sumantri, and Head of Serang City Social Service, Moch. Poppy Nopriadi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the 2020 Long Distance Social Rehabilitation Program (RSJJ), at Wanda Galuh Cottage Hall, Serang City, Banten Province. The signing of the collaboration marked the start of a social rehabilitation program for 60 people with intellectual disabilities in Serang City.
In his speech, Esa explained that in this RSJJ Program BRSPDI "Ciungwanara" Bogor gave confidence to Serang City because of the active role of the Social Service and its assistants. “The RSJJ program has been implemented for 14 years in different locations every year. In 2020, we trust the City of Serang to run PPJJ. This trust considers many things, including the support and active role of the Serang City Social Service, the ability of the cadres/companions in carrying out their duties, as well as the Serang City community who participated in data collection activities for people with intellectual disabilities last year," said Esa.
Furthermore, Esa added that one of the objectives of the RSJJ program is to increase community participation in providing services and rehabilitation to persons with intellectual disabilities, so that they can develop their potential as optimally as possible according to their respective abilities.
Moch expressed his appreciation and gratitude. Poppy to BRSPDI "Ciungwanara" Bogor who has chosen Serang City as the target of the RSJJ Program. “For us, this is an honor and a blessing because Ciungwanara wants to help people with disabilities in Serang City. I also thank the RSJJ Facilitator who has the task of guiding children with intellectual disabilities. This task is not easy, because people with disabilities are always stigmatized by society, said Moch. Poppy.
As part of a series of RSJJ programs, BRSPDI "Ciungwanara" Bogor has carried out the RSJJ Companion Training on September 10-11, 2020, involving 20 local cadres of Serang City who are tasked with guiding beneficiaries at home. The opening ceremony of the RSJJ Program was carried out in an orderly manner with due observance of health protocols, considering that the Governor of Banten Province began implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Serang City starting on 10th September 2020.
