BEKASI (January 31, 2021) - The cooking training held at Pangudi Luhur Training Center Bekasi today has entered the last day. The Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat, expressed his pride in the enthusiasm of the beneficiaries who participated in the training.
"I am touched and proud of the enthusiasm of the beneficiary friends who took part in the cooking training. With the initiation of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini in collaboration with the Surabaya Hotel School (SHS), this training ran smoothly," said Harry.
The cooking training was attended by 30 participants consisting of 9 beneficiaries, 9 Assistant Instructors from Pangudi Luhur Training Center Bekasi, 8 Dharma Wanita and the wives of government non civil servant employees (PPNPN), 2 Beneficiaries and 2 assistants from Mulya Jaya Training Center Jakarta. has been taking place from 26 to 31 January 2021.
Harry also thanked the SHS team for their sincere and sincere dedication and concern in accompanying the beneficiaries, so that at the end of this training the friends had much better skills in serving a variety of foods.
The SHS team which consists of 5 instructors has a mission to provide food in the culinary field with the hope that all participants can develop cooking materials and the added value can be a business field and increase the 'income' of the beneficiaries.
During 6 days of training, various variations of cuisine were introduced by the chefs. "The menu that has been shared with knowledge is a menu with an East Java theme. So the culinary results are oriented towards East Java cuisine, for example spicy sour, lontong racing, mixed tofu, chicken soup and some processed catfish which are usually served with sambal. We also provide a variety of chili sauce," said Joko Budi Santoso, one of the mainstay chefs of SHS.
Chef Joko also said that there were also difficulties in training the beneficiaries. "The beneficiaries looked at us as practitioners, everyday at the hotel, so they were still awkward to ask questions, but the next day they enjoyed it and were able to follow our materials," he explained.
In addition, it was difficult to equate the terms of cuisine because the participants came from several regions. So it takes time to unify the perception of the term a processing.
"But what we salute is that all participants are cooperative, so what we guide and teach they follow seriously," said Chef Joko.

He aspires to have a catfish business, armed with the experience from this cooking training. "I was taught how to cook smoked catfish, balado, opor chicken and chili sauce such as mango and pineapple sauce. I want to be able to open a catfish pecel business," said Yanah, who used to work as a domestic worker.
Rina, one of the cooking training participants from Mulya Jaya Training Center, said the same thing. "I am happy to take part in this training, to increase my knowledge, experience, so that I can open my own business. I also know how to cook properly and correctly," she said.
The Ministry of Social Affairs wants to create displaced people who can be independent. "Don't waste this knowledge, because the Minister also said that in the future the Pangudi Luhur Training Center Bekasi and other social rehabilitation centers throughout Indonesia will not only provide training, but ensure that the results of the work are used to increase the independence of the beneficiaries," she concluded.
The cooking training was officially closed by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat, marked by the handing over of placards to the SHS team. The event was also attended by the Director of Social Rehabilitation of the Socially Impaired and Victims of Trafficking in Persons and their ranks, the Head of the Pangudi Luhur Training Center Bekasi and the Head of the Bekasi "Tan Miyat" Center.
