MAJENE (July 31, 2022) - The celebration of National Children's Day (HAN) 2022 is also felt in Majene Regency, especially in the Majene evacuee area, Mekkatta Village. The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the Pangurangi Center in Takalar with the Directorate of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims (PSKBA) collaborated in carrying out a series of HAN 2022 commemorations in the Majene evacuee area.

The Pangurangi Takalar Center started a series of HAN commemorations by conducting an assessment and data collection on children in the Majene evacuee area, Mekkatta Village from 26 to 28 July 2022

"This assessment is carried out to ensure that the ATENSI assistance provided is following the needs of the children," said the Head of the Pangurangi Takalar Center, Nur Alam.

Pangurangi Center in Takalar also held a social campaign on the impact of early marriage and drug prevention, which was attended by children and parents living in the Majene evacuee camp. This campaign aims to educate parents and children to understand the impact of early marriage and drug abuse on children's development and future.

"Seeing the high number of early marriages in Majene, we took the initiative to carry out a social campaign on the impact of early marriage as well as education about drugs as an effort to protect children and their future as the nation's future," said Ayu Ningtyas, Social Worker at Pangurangi Center in Takalar.

Still, in the HAN series in Majene, the Pangurangi Takalar Center distributed 769 packages of Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) worth IDR 800 million to 450 children in the Majene evacuee area and 319 other children scattered in Banggae, Lamungan Batu, Ulumanda and East Banggae sub-districts. The distribution of this assistance was carried out in the Majene evacuee area of Makkatta Village, Banggae, East Banggae, and Ulumanda District offices on 30-31 July 2022.

"The provision of the ATENSI assistance package aims to meet the needs of children in the form of child nutrition, children's school supplies, worship equipment, and personal hygiene equipment," said Nur Alam.

Nur Alam continued that not only ATENSI package assistance was distributed in Majene Regency but also disability aids with a total of 18 units consisting of 6 wheelchairs, 1 adaptive wheelchair, 9 hearing aids, 1 therapy table, and 1 smart guide stick.

“Based on the assessment that has been carried out, there are 18 of our children in Majene who experience various disabilities. In this HAN momentum, the Ministry of Social Affairs is here to distribute aids in the form of assistive devices according to the needs of our children, consisting of adaptive wheelchairs, hearing aids, therapy tables to smart guide sticks," concluded Nur Alam.

In addition to providing aid packages, the commemoration of National Children's Day was filled with organizing various interesting activities including the visit of evacuee children to the Majene Regent's office. The visit of the Majene evacuee children to the Majene Regent's office was received directly by the Assistant I of Majene Regency, Mustamine.

“Welcome to the regent's office. This is the regent's father's office. This is where our regent's father works and makes the best decisions for the people of Majene Regency," said Mustamine.

The children looked so enthusiastic and amazed to see the regent's office which was so spacious, comfortable, and filled with various facilities.

"Wow, it's so cold here, the seats are soft, luxurious, and nice," said Syahran, one of the children of Majene evacuees.

Mustamine also motivates the children to always be optimistic and enthusiastic to pursue their dreams in the regent's meeting room.

“Who here wants to be a regent? Come here and try to lead a meeting, don't be shy and doubtful. To be a leader we must be brave and confident,” said Mustamine.

Akram, one of the evacuee children came forward and was immediately taught to lead the National Children's Day preparation meeting in Majene.

"Assalamu'alaikum, today we will have a meeting regarding the preparation of National Children's Day activities in Majene Regency," Akram said, blushing.

The series of HAN commemoration activities in Majene were followed by recreational and educational activities such as flying fox, group dynamics, call to prayer competitions, and coloring competitions which were held in the Majene Regent's home environment.
