Compensation for the Heirs is not a Substitute for the Families of the Victims of the Tragedy at the Malang Kanjuruhan Stadium

The Minister of Social Affairs together with Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Anisah Syakur provided compensation to 16 heirs, each of whom received compensation of IDR15 million. The families of the victims who attended came from Pasuruan, Malang City, Malang Regency, Batu City, Probolinggo, and Jember. Also present were three seriously injured people who received compensation of IDR5 million, and four minor injuries who received compensation of IDR2.5 million.

Anisah Syakur said Commission VIII of the DPR RI has always given full support to programs from the Ministry of Social Affairs, including this compensation. "Certainly this is also part of our duties in the DPR RI, to always encourage the Ministry of Social Affairs to carry out its duties in accordance with the main tasks that have been submitted or have been determined," she said. The politician from Pasuruan also expressed his condolences for the victims of the Kanjuruhan tragedy and hoped that those who were injured would recover quickly. Meanwhile, after completing her activities in Pasuruan, the Minister of Social Affairs went to the Ngusikan Jombang District Office to meet the families of the victims.

In Jombang, the Minister of Social Affairs again emphasized that the provision of compensation is part of the duties and functions of the Ministry of Social Affairs, not as a substitute for the loss of a family. "So this compensation is not a substitute for your sons and daughters, because we can't possibly replace them," said Risma.

In her statement to the press, Risma said the Ministry of Social Affairs had completed providing compensation to the heirs of the victims who died, while data collection for the injured was still being done.

In addition to compensation, the Ministry of Social Affairs also provides psychosocial support by presenting psychologists to restore the psychological condition of the victim's family. As for the activity in Pasuruan, the Regional Secretary of Pasuruan City Yuda Tri Widya, Head of the Social Service Suwito Adi, Head of the Anilatifa Health Service, Head of Purwosari Sub-district Sugeng Hariyadi, Head of Purwosari Police, and Danramil were also present. In Jombang, Jombang Regional Secretary Agus Purnomo, Head of the Jombang Senen Education Office, and Ngusikan Police Chief were present.
