MALANG (January 29, 2021) - Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PDI) in 2021 begins with various activities to provide integrated services for PDI. The "Kartini" Center in Temanggung held a Comprehensive Assessment for PDI in Greater Malang covering Malang Regency, Malang City and Batu City.

This comprehensive assessment aims to determine the condition and potential of persons with intellectual disabilities so that appropriate services can be identified to develop their abilities. This activity is a form of government presence for persons with disabilities in the community.

The activity, which lasted for 4 days, from 27 to 30 January 2021, reached 1100 PDI in the Greater Malang area. With a new paradigm, namely providing integrated, complete and sustainable services for all PDI in the community and residential-based services as the last alternative. In Malang City targeting 5 sub-districts, in Malang Regency in 8 Districts and in Batu City targeting in 3 Districts.

In her direction, the Head of "Kartini" Center Temanggung, Juena Br. Sitepu said that Malang Raya was made the ATENSI Pilot Project because the government and the local community had formed a service embryo through the formation of the Association of Parents with Disabilities in each sub-district, so that almost all PDI in each sub-district were registered in the association in that sub-district. "When carrying out duties, keep your health by implementing strict health protocols," added Juena.

Anik Juwariyah, who lives in Kebonagung Village, Pakisaji District, is one of the parents who have PDI children. He expressed his gratitude for this activity. "I hope that with the registration of my child, the government will help us. My child will be trained in skills, so that he becomes a useful child," said Anik while holding back her emotions.

ATENSI services for PDI which are the task of "Kartini" Center Temanggung in the form of family-based services through Home Care, Family Strengthening for Independence of People with Intellectual Disabilities (PK-PDI), community-based ATENSI through LKS assistance and Sheltered Workshop Care (SWP) and Residential-based ATENSI is carried out based on the results of this comprehensive assessment which includes an assessment of potential, capabilities and support from family, community, stakeholders and the business world.

It is hoped that families and communities as well as related stakeholders can be actively involved in supporting services by providing assistance and accessibility support according to their duties and functions to ensure the continuity of services and the independence of persons with intellectual disabilities so that they are able to function properly and fulfill all their rights.
