BOGOR (22 March 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Ciungwanara Bogor Disability Center, embodies the innovation of the Social Rehabilitation Assistance Program (ATENSI) through vocational therapy and entrepreneurship development.

One of them is through making decoupage creations. Decoupage which comes from French découper or means cutting is a craft to decorate objects that require pieces of material (usually tissue paper) which are attached to the object and then coated with varnish or varnish-like a sticker, but are more durable.

Dela, the decoupage instructor, explained that the objects that can be applied to decoupage vary, from bags, clutches, wallets to cutting boards.

"The art of decoupage is an art that is quite easy to apply for people with intellectual disabilities. The equipment used is quite simple, including glue, tissue paper, brushes, and objects to be affixed," explained Dela.

"I", a male PM who also made this decoupage product, said he was very happy to be able to learn new things such as decoupage.

"I am happy to learn to glue this, the bag and wallet are beautiful," said I.

Apart from the decoupage, the beneficiaries (PM) were also very enthusiastic about participating in the livelihood therapy of making salted eggs. They look excited about pounding salt and stirring the dough.

Easy steps and promising benefits of making salted egg preparations were chosen as an activity for them that can be continued at home later.

Uju, the salted egg instructor revealed that salted egg is a skill that PM can learn because it is easy and repetitive. Apart from that, salted eggs are in great demand by the public and have become a favorite dish in several food stalls around the center.

"These salted eggs are food for everyone that can be consumed by the lower and upper-middle-class economies, so it is very appropriate if we choose as a solution to empower PM," said Uju.

The Head of Social Rehabilitation Service, Lisdiana also accompanied the process of making decoupage and salted eggs. He hopes that the production of decoupage and salted eggs can be developed by PMs so that they can be displayed at the ATENSI Creative Center (SKA) which is in the process of being developed.

The decoupage and salted egg products are planned to fill the exhibition and cafe at the SKA Ciungwanara Disability Center. Buyers can also order and view various decoupage collections that will be sold through the official e-commerce shopee ciwaproduction.
