BENGKULU (November 26, 2020) - The "Dharma Guna" Mental Center in Bengkulu belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs carried out a series of activities to celebrate the 2020 International Day of Disabilities (HDI) in Bengkulu Province. The Center synergizes with the Regional Government and Non-Government Organizations Observing Persons with Disabilities in Bengkulu Province in a committee to celebrate HDI in Bengkulu Province.
Celebrations that are held in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic have obtained permission from the Authorized Agencies and the maximum number of people participating in the activities is 100 people. Activities are carried out by implementing strict health protocols.
The 2020 HDI celebration was held from November 26 to December 3 in 3 different places, namely the "Dharma Guna" Mental Center, the Auditorium of the RRI Bengkulu Public Broadcasting Institute and the highlight of the activity was held at the Bengkulu Province Regional Building.
Today is the first series of activities to celebrate HDI 2020, namely Badminton and Chess Sports Competitions. The competition was held at the Dharma Guna “Mental” Center in Bengkulu.
In his remarks, Dardi as the Head of the "Dharma Guna" Mental Center said that activities carried out during the COVID-19 period must strictly comply with health protocols.
"Hopefully the spirit of our athletes will not subside, have fun competing with sportsmanship, and hopefully from here we will find superior seeds to compete at a higher level," said Dardi
The match will last for 2 days, namely on 26 & 27 November 2020 at the Balai Hall. Participants in the activity consisted of 4 types of disabilities, namely Physical, Mental, Deaf and Intellectual Disabilities.
Participants who have registered for Badminton matches are 39 people and chess matches are 14 people. Participants compete based on the classification of disability in accordance with the direction of the National Paralympic Committee Bengkulu Province.

Not only sports competitions, at the Balai also Blood Donor Social Service activities in collaboration with Bengkulu Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) were held. Then opened an exhibition booth of the work of the Beneficiaries of "Dharma Guna" Mental Center. All activities are carried out at different points to avoid crowds in one place.
Other activities that are part of a series of 2020 HDI celebration activities in Bengkulu Province are Talkshows, Media Roadshows in collaboration with local media, Coloring Contests, Fashion Show Contests, Visits to People's Houses, and Art Performances.
This activity was made possible because of the joint commitment of the joint organizing committee and sponsors to ensure that the once-a-year celebration that Persons with Disabilities always look forward to will be able to take place despite many limitations.
Carrying the theme “Building Back a Better, More Inclusive, More Accessible and Sustainable Life After the COVID-19 Pandemic”, the International Day of Disabilities in 2020 has the hope that Persons with Disabilities can continue to develop and work supported by various adequate facilities and infrastructure to support they maximize their potential.
Other activities that are part of a series of 2020 HDI celebration activities in Bengkulu Province are Talkshows, Media Roadshows in collaboration with local media, Coloring Contests, Fashion Show Contests, Visits to People's Houses, and Art Performances.
