JAKARTA (June 9th, 2020) - Starting activities in New Normal era, Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto along with Inspector General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Dadang Iskandar, did a direct check to 2 warehouses to make sure the stock is enough. Those warehouses located in Bekasi named Harapan Jaya warehouse and Pengayoman warehouse in Utan Kayu Utara.

The warehouse is used for packaging basic food assistance sourced from the Domestic Grants Fund (HDN). This food assistance will be distributed to the people affected by COVID-19, who have not received any assistance yet either from Central Government or Regional Government. Every package contains rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, and canned fish. Until now, 2,769 food packages have been distributed from Gudang Harapan Jaya, Bekasi.


After visited Harapan Jaya Warehouse Bekasi, Director General of Social Empowerment continued his visit to PT. Romulo Nusantara Perkasa in Utan Kayu Utara. The capacity of this warehouse can reach 50,000 food packages. Until now, Gudang Pengayoman has packaging as many as 22,000 packages of basic food assistance to be distributed immediately.


PT. Romulo Nusantara Perkasa employs around 35 workers to package food packages. Some of them came from residents around the warehouse who lost their jobs.


During his visit, Director General of Social Empowerment checked the quality of food that was prepared in these 2 warehouses. Starting from the quality of rice until the expiration date of groceries that will be used as social assistance for the affected communities COVID-19.


Director of K2KRS and the Sub-Directorate of TMPNU, MPN and TMPN accompanied Director General of Social Empowerment during the visit there.


The existence of this social assistance is expected to help people affected by COVID-19 to meet their daily basic needs. Purnomo, one of the drivers met at the warehouse said that he felt very proud and happy to deliver food packages to the people affected by COVID-19. When he delivered the packages, he saw the people were very exciting while receiving the food. He hopes that this existence can help the community.
