JAKARTA (October 17th, 2019) - Director of Social Rehabilitation for Elderly, Andi Hanindito representing the Director General of Social Rehabilitation received a working visit from the Gorontalo Province House of Representatives. This working visit is aimed for comparative study / consultation with the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs related to the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) on the Implementation of Elderly Social Welfare which will be prepared by the Gorontalo Regional Government.

Andi Hanindito stated that it is estimated that in 2030 we will face the Demographic Bonus. This means that the number of elderly will be higher than the number of young people. "So in facing the demographic bonus some regulations are needed that can accommodate and facilitate us in organizing the elderly welfare," Andi said.

Moh. Kris Wartabone, Vice chairman of of Gorontalo Province House of Representatives expressed his gratitude for being allowed to carry out this work visit. "I am grateful for having been given the opportunity by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, in this case the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation for Elderly, to be able to consult, asking for guidance in making this Regional Regulation on the Elderly," he concluded.

The Chairman of the Ranperda Special Committee (Pansus), Idrus M. T. Mopili also said that the Gorontalo Regional Government needs the support of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in the formation of this Regional Regulation. "We will adjust the articles in the regional regulation so that they can accommodate Law No. 13 of 1998 about Elderly Welfare. We need support from the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, "he said.

The work visit was attended by around 21 people, consisting of 16 members of the Gorontalo Province House of Representatives and five from the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs. Before ending the discussion, Andi Hanindito expressed his hope that the next few years Gorontalo Province could make the Elderly program as a priority.
