Elderly Participate in the Commemoration of HLUN 2022 at the Nipotowe Center Palu
SIGI (May 31, 2022) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs through the "Nipotowe" Center in Palu carried out a series of
activities for the 26th National Elderly Day (HLUN) 2022 in Central Sulawesi.
To support the government's program, it pays special attention to the
elderly.
Located at the Nipotowe Center in Palu, the elderly took part in
gymnastics, free health checks, eye examinations, and the provision of glasses,
providing Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) to the elderly, as well as
blood donation activities which were attended by the general public around Palu
City and Sigi Regency, in commemoration of the 2022 HLUN.
"This HLUN is a day of celebration for us who are elderly,"
said one of the elderly participants who were enthusiastic about participating
in elderly gymnastics.
The head of the Nipotowe Center, Hanafi, in his speech said that to
increase the independence and welfare of the elderly, the Nipotowe Center in
Palu accommodates the needs of the elderly through the ATENSI program.
"Since 2021, ATENSI has been distributed to 339 elderly and 87
elderly have received assistance in the middle of the first semester of 2022 in
Central Sulawesi, as well as 200 elderly recipients of assistance in Tasikmalaya,
West Java based on the results of the assessment," he said.
Hanafi explained that services through the ATENSI program for
beneficiaries, including the elderly, will continue to be implemented with a
target of 1,480 beneficiaries out of 10,000 people who will be assessed the hope
that in the implementation of HLUN activities in the future, there will be more
agencies/institutions, organizations and the business world that care about the
elderly and organize HLUN that are beneficial for the elderly.
Sitti Hasbiah N. Zaenong the Head of the Central Sulawesi Provincial
Social Office stated that the elderly population is getting bigger so the
elderly need to get serious attention from all sectors in improving their welfare
of elderly.
"The elderly population and
very fast growth can cause various problems, so it needs attention from various
sectors as an effort to improve welfare," said Sitti.
