WEST BANDUNG (June 5, 2020) - Cucu Halimah, a parent of a child with Down syndrome cried with emotion after receiving food assistance for handling COVID-19 from the Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (BRSPDI) "Ciungwanara" Bogor. The distribution of aid which was carried out in two sub-districts in West Bandung Regency targeted 52 people with intellectual disabilities because they experienced obstacles in their adaptive abilities and self-protection so they were very vulnerable to being affected by the corona virus.

"Hatur nuhun. Hatur nuhun. Hatur nuhun pisan (thank you so much)" said Cucu over and over as she took her son. The grandson did not expect his son to be a provider of fortune in the midst of the current corona pandemic. Cucu became one of 40 recipients of basic food assistance for intellectual disabilities in the UPTD Paca Hall, Lembang District. Cucu said that her son was aware of the spread of the corona virus, but still needed assistance in maintaining personal hygiene.

The Head of Social Rehabilitation Section for West Bandung Regency Social Service, Tin Kartini, expressed his appreciation for the distribution of this aid. "Thank you to the" Ciungwanara " Center and the Ministry of Social Affairs who still pay attention to children with intellectual disabilities in our area. West Bandung Regency has collaborated with Ciungwanara since 2017 through two programs for people with intellectual disabilities, and until now we continue the program, "said Tin in his speech.

After distributing aid in Lembang District, the BRSPDI "Ciungwanara" Team continued the distribution to the Cililin District. The Head of Cililin Village, Tedi Kusnaidi, warmly welcomed the BRSPDI Team "Ciungwanara" which distributed 12 packages of basic necessities. "Insha Allah, this assistance will benefit our children because generally they are from underprivileged families," said Tedi.
