Right now, they can manage a culinary booth at the ATENSI Creation Center.

Since the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini and her staff went directly to reach several scavengers and homeless people in January 2021, several scavengers and homeless people were invited to live at the Pangudi Luhur Training Center Bekasi.

While at the Center, they received various trainings, ranging from training on food processing (culinary), training on freshwater fish cultivation, training on waste recycling, training on hydroponic plants, training on chicken farming, training on soil media plants (porang plants) and training on composting.

The Minister of Social Affairs said that she would drive 2 "machines" in the scavenger and homeless families. First, the head of the family is given access to a more decent job, which is channeled to state-owned companies such as the Grand Kamala Lagoon from PT. PP Properti and PT. Waskita Karya (Persero) tbk. Meanwhile, his wife was provided with training in food processing (culinary) as a provision to find additional income.

Furthermore, the Minister of Social Affairs invited the Surabaya Hotel School (SHS) to provide cooking training to beneficiaries at Pangudi Luhur Training Center Bekasi.

The cooking training, which was attended by 30 beneficiaries and instructors from Pangudi Luhur Training Center Bekasi and Mulya Jaya Training Center has been held from 26 to 31 January 2021.

The food menu introduced by the SHS team is like spicy and sour fish sauce, lontong racing, mixed tofu, chicken soup and some processed catfish which are usually served with sambal. The SHS team also provided the manufacture of various kinds of chili sauce.

The SHS team which consists of 5 instructors has a mission to provide food in the culinary field with the hope that all participants can develop cooking materials and the added value can be a business field and increase the 'income' of the beneficiaries.

Now, after receiving cooking training from SHS, the beneficiaries are able to develop the cooking knowledge shared by the SHS team and fill the booth at the ATENSI Creation Center.

Heni, one of the beneficiaries of Pangudi Luhur Training Center who filled the culinary booth with chicken pecel snacks, said that she was happy using her knowledge to earn a living.

"I took part in training yesterday from SHS. There was mixed tofu, catfish pecel, chicken pecel and many more. I chose chicken pecel, because I like chicken pecel sauce, it's easy to make," explained Heni.

Heni said that she would continue this business. He wants to progress and be successful. "I will continue this business because I want to progress and be successful. Thank you to Mrs. Risma for giving me this opportunity," he said.

Director of Operations I PT. Waskita Karya (Persero) tbk, Didit Oemar Prihadi, who also enjoyed the culinary creations of the beneficiaries, revealed that the food served was delicious. "Yes, it tastes good. I was offered fried chicken and catfish. I chose to try catfish because I saw that there was a catfish farming pond here. I am interested in trying catfish cultivated by beneficiaries as well," he said.

The beneficiaries hope that many visitors will come to this culinary center and they will also continue to develop culinary innovations to attract public interest.
