BANDUNG (November 21, 2020) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Phala Martha" Disability Center held an activity to increase the capacity of the Joint Center for Social Welfare Institutions (LKS) as Working Partners which was carried out at the Santika Hotel Bandung.
In ensuring efforts to respect, protect, and fulfill the rights of persons with disabilities, especially mental disabilities, the Ministry of Social Affairs establishes a partnership with Social Welfare Institutions.
The Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, Harry Hikmat in his directive, said that this activity should be a means of aligning perceptions with the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs in the efforts of social rehabilitation services.
"This is the first step to build cooperation and partnerships with LKS which already have a track record in providing social rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, namely mental disabilities which are closely related to their collaboration with the "Phala Martha" Disability Center in Sukabumi," explained Harry.
Harry is optimistic that a good partnership can be established with all social welfare institutions and related parties.
“The Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) Program has a platform on how to carry out family, community, and residential-based social rehabilitation dynamically, integrated or complimentary, through activities to fulfill a decent life, family assistance, social care, physical, mental, spiritual, skills and entrepreneurship therapy," he explained.
"The ultimate goal is for them to recover from their mental disorders so that they can return to social functioning properly, return to their families, and can live in peace with the people around them," said Harry.
Another resource person in this activity was the Director of Social Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities (RSPD), Eva Rahmi Kasim. The material that was delivered virtually was the RSPD Directorate's Policy in an effort to provide social rehabilitation services.

In his report, the Head of Center Cup Santo said that LKS played a strategic role in the implementation of community-based ATENSI. Through LKS, the community must be strengthened to be more sensitive and responsive in dealing with the problems of people with disabilities.
“This activity is an effective collaboration to strengthen partnerships with LKS to jointly understand and implement ATENSI Social Rehabilitation. With a better role for LKS, the function of families and communities can be more effective in preventing and solving problems experienced by persons with disabilities,” explained Cup Santo.
