Family-Based Tents: A New Model of Evacuee Tents for West Sumatra Earthquake Victims
After the earthquake in West Sumatra, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs established a family-based tent, where tents are made on a small scale close to the house for a capacity of up to 5 people. Tents of this type were erected in the two worst affected areas, namely Nagari Malampah, Pasaman Regency and Nagari Kajai, West Pasaman Regency.
In addition to facilitating vehicle access for aid distribution, family tents can reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Meanwhile, to fulfill food and drink for the evacuees, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs established Field Public Kitchens at a number of points, namely the Siparayo Command Post, Nagari Kajai Command Post, and the West Pasaman Regent's Office.
