JAKARTA (November 30, 2020) - Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, Grace Batubara said that full support from families for people with disabilities is very important to develop their abilities so that they can develop, be creative, and play a role in nation building.
"Families play a role in supporting the growth and development of children with disabilities. Parents must remain persistent in providing the best parenting styles and must be sure and ensure that people with disabilities are also equal to others," emphasized the wife of the Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara in a talk show Disabilities Show Episode 1 which was broadcast live on Television of the Republic of Indonesia (TVRI) and the Youtube channel of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs in Jakarta, Monday.
In this talk show hosted by Melaney Ricardo and Dio Hapsari, Grace said that all parties have an important role in developing the abilities of people with disabilities. At the central level, the Ministry of Social Affairs exists with the community to provide comprehensive social protection for the growth and development of children with special needs.
"They can become great with the support of all of us," she said in a talkshow held to commemorate the 2020 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (HDI).
Local governments, Grace continued, must also take part in supporting people with disabilities to have equal access. One of them is access to public services.
Grace also said that the Ministry of Social Affairs has a Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) in the form of Social Rehabilitation Centers for Persons with Disabilities in several regions in Indonesia that can be utilized by parents with disabilities. This hall is a place to restore the social functioning of persons with disabilities.
