BANDUNG (April 8, 2021) – The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Galih Pakuan" Resident Center Bogor conducted outreach to the Punk community in the City and Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java. Based on the results of the initial assessment and urine tests conducted by the Outreach Team (TRC) of the "Galih Pakuan" Resident Center on the Punk children, there were 3 children who tested positive for using drugs.

The "Galih Pakuan" Residential Center Social Worker then conducts a screening to find out the type of substance use and the level of risk of its use. From the results of the screening, it was found that the substances used by If, Ra, and Re were sedatives, with a moderate use level category. Their drug abuse behavior is motivated by social factors and family problems.

Furthermore, 3 punk children accompanied by social workers headed for the Baraya Sheltered Workshop at the "Galih Pakuan" Residential Center Bogor. They will be in the Sheltered Workshop to receive automotive-motorcycle vocational training and entrepreneurship development, it is hoped that this will help them break free from their addiction to using illegal drugs and prevent them from returning to the streets. While they were at the Sheltered Workshop, the punk kids still received assistance from social workers.

Furthermore, the "Galih Pakuan" Resident Center continues to coordinate with the Tasikmalaya City Social Service to cooperate in handling the punk phenomenon, especially to provide tools to support empowerment such as providing business places for the punk community.
