BONE (April 8, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa provided basic needs assistance to six elderly fire victims in Lamurukung Village, Tellusiattingnge District, Bone Regency.

Previously, on Monday (6/4/2021) a large fire occurred in a residential area. As a result, 10 residential units were burnt and two residents died in the incident.

It is known that the two victims who died were a grandmother and her grandchildren named Siti Hawang (63) and Aldilah (9). Based on the results of the assessment by the emergency response team, apart from the elderly victims who died, a number of 7 elderly people were also affected by the fire.

In accordance with the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tri Rismaharini that the Centers must respond quickly to social problems that occur, the "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa is moving quickly in providing social protection for the elderly fire victims by deploying an emergency response team. The team was deployed to carry out a needs assessment for the elderly affected by the fire.

Wahidin, Head of the Gowa "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center, said that based on the assessment carried out, the Center provides services through the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program.

"The "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa is directly involved in providing protection for elderly disaster victims through the ATENSI program assistance which is provided based on assessments carried out by social workers and the emergency team," said Didin, as he is usually called.

The assistance provided is in the form of basic needs that are needed by the elderly in dealing with post-fire emergencies. Assistance for basic needs for clothing and food assistance e.g mattresses, sarongs, rice, eggs, cooking oil, milk, and biscuits.

The distribution of aid was accompanied by the Secretary of the Bone Regency Social Service, the Tellusiattingnge District Head, and the Head of Lamurukung Village.

Secretary of the Bone Regency Social Service, Hafid said that he responded very well to the fast movement of the "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa which immediately came down to provide assistance to the elderly affected by the fire.

The distribution of ATENSI assistance is a form of state attention through the Ministry of Social Affairs by fulfilling the rights of the elderly.
