"Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center Distributes Social Assistance to West Sulawesi
MAJENE (17th June 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Gau Mabaji Social Rehabilitation Center (BRSLU), distributed Social Assistance (bansos) in the form of 95 food packages for 95 elderly assisted by three Elderly Social Welfare Institutions (LKS-LU) in West Sulawesi Province. The three of LKS-LU that received the message to distribute social assistance were LKS-LU Nur Insani, LKS-LU Mandar Indonesia, and LKS-LU Al-Jumrah.
This symbolization distribution of basic food assistance was carried out at the Nur Insani LKS-LU Meeting Room in Majene Regency. Attended by the Head of the Social Service of Majene Regency, the Head of the East Banggae District, the Head of Lembang Sub-district, The Head of LKS-LU Nur Insani, the Head of the LKS-LU Mandar Indonesia, and the Head of the LKS-LU Al Jumrah.
In his remarks, Secretary of the Majene Regency Social Service, Dulla Masa expressed his gratitude to the Elderly Center for the social assistance provided.
"I represent the elderly in West Sulawesi, especially in Majene Regency, to express our gratitude to the Gau Mabaji Elderly Center for willing to take a long journey to distribute this assistance," said Dulla.
Head of the Gau Mabaji Elderly Center, Syam Wuryani said that this basic food assistance is a form of government concern, that the country is here for the elderly. Beneficiaries will receive each basic food assistance package worth IDR 300,000.
"The details of the basic food assistance package contain rice, special milk for the elderly, frying oil, instant noodles, sardines, immune-boosting drinks, bath soap, and laundry soap," said Dulla.
The provision of basic food assistance is given to groups that have not been touched by other social assistance, such as the Family Hope Program (PKH), Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), Cash Social Assistance (BST), and Regular Social Assistance of Social Rehabilitation Program.
Halim (85 y.o), the elderly recipient who works as a fisherman said that this assistance really helped him.
"I am very grateful to the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs and the Gau Mabaji Elderly Center for providing assistance when the needs of basic necessities at home are not fulfilled because the catch is not much," said Halim.
Through these three LKS-LU, it is hoped that the distribution of basic food assistance in West Sulawesi Province can be evenly distributed and reach all elderly who have not received regular assistance and other assistance programs.
