MATARAM (October 5, 2020) - Gowa's "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center as one of the Technical Implementation Units (UPT) of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs in the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation has made various efforts to make the implementation of the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program a success.

One of the efforts made is through the implementation of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which was held in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province. The implementation of this FGD activity is one of the progressive steps taken by the Center in disseminating the ATENSI program.

In addition to socializing the ATENSI program, monitoring and evaluation of social assistance for the elderly social rehabilitation program was also carried out for 2560 elderly people in 71 LKS-LU in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

The total assistance worth Rp619 million for the elderly affected by COVID-19 was distributed through LKS-LU and each elderly received assistance worth Rp2.7 million. This assistance is divided into four components, namely Assistance for the Elderly, Family Support, Social Care, and Therapy.

In an effort to establish communication and shared perceptions, previously coordination was carried out at the NTB Provincial Social Office. In the coordination of activities, the Head of the NTB Provincial Social Service, Akhsanul Khalik, Head of Social Rehabilitation, Fitriah, and Head of the Elderly Section, Siti Eny Chaerany, participated.

In his acceptance, the Head of the Social Service of the Province of NTB expressed his gratitude for the delivery of social assistance for the social rehabilitation program for the elderly that had been implemented in NTB.

"The Social Office of the NTB Province expresses its gratitude for the attention and concern of the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Gowa "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center to the community, especially the elderly in the NTB Province," said Akhsanul.

In addition, the Head of the Social Office also expressed his support for the ATENSI program which will be carried out through the Gowa "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center.

"We hope that in the future the handling of elderly problems can be wider and the NTB Province is ready to support all programs including the ATENSI program from the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Gowa "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center," he added.

After coordinating the activities, the activity was continued with a light discussion between the Center, Social Office, and Elderly Social Service Agency (LKS-LU) which was intended to find out problems in the distribution of social assistance in each LKS-LU and explain to LKS-LU about the ATENSI program.

"This discussion activity is intended to find out the process of distributing social assistance and also social rehabilitation services for the elderly at LKS-LU in NTB Province," said Yani, as he is usually called.

"In addition, in the future, the ATENSI program will not only be based on Center/House, but also based on Family and Community, one of which is LKS-LU. So that later the elderly with social problems can be overcome in LKS-LU with the assistance of Center," he added.

At the core of the event, each LKS-LU explained their experiences as well as obstacles in distributing social assistance and social rehabilitation services for their fostered elderly. Various problems faced by LKS-LU are then discussed together in this activity and the results of this discussion will be used as input for future program improvements.

This activity was also attended by the Social Office of Mataram City, Muhammad Husnurrido, Central Lombok City Social Office, Septia Nurul, Senior Professionals (Tegpro LU), Isnaini and Dianas, and the Chairperson of each LKS-LU.

At the end of the activity, it was concluded that all FGD participants from both the Social Service and LKS-LU supported and were ready to synergize with the Gowa "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in carrying out social rehabilitation services for the elderly through the ATENSI program.
