JAKARTA (November 20, 2020) - November 20 is a historic date for children in the world. Because in 1959, the United Nations General Assembly ratified the Declaration of the Rights of the Child to promote children's rights. Thirty years later, on November 20, 1989, the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child was declared. It was these two important events that led to November 20 being celebrated as World Children's Day.

To commemorate this historic event, "Handayani" Children's Center together with the Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI) held an activity entitled TATAKA which is an acronym for "Sign of Love for Children". In addition, this activity is also to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Indonesia having ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The celebration of World Children's Day took place while still complying with the Covid 19 Protocol. On behalf of the Head of the Center, Head of Section for Social Rehabilitation Services, Bambang Wibowo in his speech called for participants to continue to attend the event by doing 3M. "My children, let's take part in this activity by implementing 3M, namely washing hands, wearing masks, and maintaining distance," said Bambang when giving his speech.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of LPAI, Seto Mulyadi, was present among the beneficiary children accompanied by the Secretary General of LPAI Heni Adi Hermanu.

"Sisters and brothers, don't ever feel like a failure in life, keep trying and practicing to achieve your goals," said this child activist who is often called Kak Seto.

Apart from providing motivation, Kak Seto and Kak Heni invite the children to have fun. According to him, being happy has meaning, namely movement, healthy emotions, eating healthy food, praying, getting enough rest, getting along full of friendship, and being active in learning, working, and creating.

Kak Seto emphasized that LPAI and the Ministry of Social Affairs will always be ready to receive input or consultation from children. "You can be sad, you can feel various emotions, you can also have an opinion. But you can't keep it to yourself. We from LPAI and also the ladies and gentlemen who are in the Center will always be ready to help the younger siblings," said Kak Seto.

On this occasion, the President of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) from Indonesia, Alexander Tio was also present. JCI is the world's largest non-political youth organization affiliated with the United Nations. Kak Seto invited JCI to participate in order to provide motivation and enthusiasm for the children.

“To be successful, we have to start with ourselves, be confident, and be grateful. The most important thing is to love and accept yourself,” said Alexander.

Meanwhile, in 2020, World Children's Day takes the theme "A day to imagine a better future for every child."

The activities that took place were filled with enthusiastic children who were entertained by the magic show and the distribution of door prizes.

Finally, LPAI and the "Handayani" Children's Center agreed that cooperation between the two parties could continue to be improved. Especially in the fulfillment of children's rights and child protection.
