JAKARTA (February 4, 2021) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the Social Worker of "Handayani" Children's Center Jakarta conducted a Case Response to the news received by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation through media posters circulating in the community regarding information on Families with Children with Disabilities who need assistance. Following up on the report, The Head of the Center Tasks Executor, Sulistya Ariadhi immediately assigned Social Workers to respond to cases and coordinate directly with Parents of Children with Disabilities for further assessment.

Based on the results of the assessment carried out, RA is a child with a disability with various physical disabilities, namely cerebral palsy who lives in the Tanjung Barat Urban Village, South Jakarta with his two parents in a rented house. Currently, RA still has comorbid health problems, such as scoliosis, bronchopneumonia, and laryngomalacia so that it requires regular medical care every month using BPJS Health.

Currently RA can only lie down at home using Nasogastric Tube Feeding (NGT) to help eat and drink, so RA needs maximum assistance. RA's father currently works as a Cleaning Service in Jakarta with an income of IDR 3,500,000, while his mother is a housewife. Every month, RA requires at least 10 cans of milk to meet his dietary needs, as well as daily presses. Certainly, it becomes very burdensome for families with economic limitations because RA's parents still have to provide for other household matters, such as paying for electricity, rent, and other household needs.

Based on the results of the assessment, the "Handayani" Children's Center provides assistance in meeting needs in the form of milk, press and snacks for children. The assistance given was warmly welcomed by Mrs. RA and Grandma RA.

"I would like to thank the Minister of Social Affairs through the "Handayani" Children's Center for their assistance," said Mrs. RA.

Previously, RA had received assistance for a special wheelchair/wheelchair according to his needs since 6 months ago to help with his daily mobility, which was obtained from the Tsu Zhi Buddhist Foundation which was assisted by the local village authority.

The Social Worker who is on duty at the same time also coordinates with the local sub-district , represented by the Secretary of the Lurah (Seklur) regarding the response to the case. The village administration expressed deep gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs for the special form of support and protection for children with disabilities in their environment and hopes that in the future this assistance can be provided regularly and children with disabilities in their environment based on data that is 13 children also receive this assistance to support family and child development.

In the future, social workers will follow up the response to this case by coordinating and collaborating with other Ministry of Social Affairs' Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) such as the Social Rehabilitation Service Unit for Children with Disabilities (ULRS APD).

The form of support provided is in the form of therapy services and family support, such as the use of wheelchairs and activities that children and families can do at home.
