BEKASI (February 24, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs' Psychosocial Support Service (LDP) Team consisting of the Handayani Children's Center and the Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation encourage children to play in flood evacuation sites in Sumber Sari Village, Pebayuran District, Bekasi Regency.
The head of the Handayani Children's Center, Hasrifah Musa, said that the LDP team that was dispatched consisted of social workers, social instructors, and the Social Worker Service Unit.
"We sent a team from the Center and also from the Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation. In the field, we also joined the LDP team from the Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims (PSKBA) Directorate who sent a car for psychosocial support services," said Hasrifah.
One of the team members, Maria Josefin Barus, who is also a social worker at Handayani Children's Center, said that the LDP activities aim to reduce children's anxiety and worry due to the new situations they are experiencing.
"Children who are flood victims feel uncomfortable with their current situation because this is a new situation for them. So we help them reduce it with psychosocial support, one of which is by encouraging them to play," said Maria.
According to Maria, there are many psychosocial support services provided. Some of them are encouraging children to play magic, coloring, singing, storytelling, and other fun activities. Although children are invited to do many activities, health protocols are still observed. Before the activity starts, the children are always reminded to wear masks, keep their distance, and wash their hands.
