BOGOR (March 20, 2021) – The Ciungwanara Disability Center in Bogor belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs has created an innovation in the Social Rehabilitation Assistance Program (ATENSI) through vocational therapy and entrepreneurship development.

One of them is through the creation of the Ciwitan Hijab, namely the creation of a hijab using the tie dye method (the technique of dyeing the fabric by tying the fabric before dyeing it). Beneficiaries (PM) in Ciungwanara take advantage of the business potential that is currently rife among the community by pinching techniques (in Sundanese ciwitan) to produce products of economic value.

The head of the Center, Siti Sari Rumayanti, encouraged the development of this Ciwitan Hijab.

"We continue to develop Hijab Ciwitan in order to keep up with current trends, with the use of contemporary materials and motifs, we hope that Hijab Ciwitan can increasingly gain a place in people's hearts. We are doing this effort to hone PM's entrepreneurial spirit and make this product a source of income for them," said Sari.

The Head of Social Rehabilitation Services also accompanied the process of making the Ciwitan Hijab, he revealed that this Ciwitan Hijab became the icon of the Ciungwanara Disability Center.

"The Ciwitan hijab is the main attraction and characteristic of Ciungwanara, so that later PM's hijab will fill the ATENSI Creation Center (SKA) gallery in Ciungwanara," said Lisdiana.

Lisdiana also added that the simple and repetitive techniques of making Hijab Ciwitan are very suitable for people with intellectual disabilities. So that PM can apply it in his family and community.

The PMs are also working on how to make it step by step with the guidance of instructors and social workers. One of the instructors, Nitah Cipto, said that the making of this Ciwitan Hijab had to be done patiently and thoroughly.

"We guide PMs to be able to make Hijab Ciwitan patiently and carefully. Because hand strength is needed, so we also continue to coordinate with Social Workers and occupational therapists in seeing PM's development progress and to train fine motor skills," said Nitah.

“A”, one of the male PMs who helped make the Hijab Ciwitan product, said that he was very happy to be able to learn how to make Hijab Ciwitan.

"I'm happy to follow this, learn to make a headscarf by tying it like this," said A.

This Ciwitan Hijab product is planned to fill the storefronts of the ATENSI Creation Center Gallery which is in the process of being manufactured at the Ciungwanara Disability Center. In addition, buyers can order and view various collections of hijab ciwitan which will be sold through e-commerce.
