MAKASSAR (17 July 2020) – Efforts to improve capability and social responsibility for people with physical disabilities through Advanced Social Rehabilitation (Rehsos) continue to be optimized. One of them is through a program to strengthen independence for Persons with Physical Disabilities (PDF) based on families, communities and institutions. In the 2020 budget year, there are 4 (Four) Regencies that are the targets of implementing the program, including Wajo and Bulukumba Regencies, South Sulawesi Province, Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province, and Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province.

Later, around 44 people with physical disabilities who have businesses including those with existing business embryos from each district will become Beneficiaries of this self-reliance strengthening program.

In total there are around 176 people with disabilities from each of the targeted districts for program implementation whose capacity will be increased to become independent entrepreneurs, said the Head of the Social Assessment and Advocacy Section of the Center for People with Physical Disabilities (BRSPDF) “Wirajaya” in Makassar M. Yakub when submitting a Report on the Implementation of Technical Guidance Activities (Bimtek) for assistants for the family, community and institutional-based PDF self-reliance strengthening program

This activity was carried out online and was attended by Social Services Agency, Heads of Social Rehabilitation Division, as well as assistants for persons with disabilities from each of the targeted districts for program implementation

In his report, Yakub also said that before the program intervention stage was implemented, there were several stages that had been carried out, starting from mapping/assessment, data verification of potential beneficiaries, as well as the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) stage which presented several stakeholders in each district .

Specifically to Technical Guidance for assistants, this is a stage of capacity building for assistants who are later expected to be able to transfer knowledge related to management and technical business development for beneficiaries, including technical reporting and accountability for program implementation.

"The online Technical Guidance method is carried out because of the COVID-19 pandemic, if there is no pandemic, then the Technical Guidance for increasing entrepreneurial capacity is carried out directly to each beneficiary," said Yakub.

Meanwhile, the Head of BRSPDF "Wirajaya" in Makassar Syaiful Samad when opening the Technical Guidance event emphasized that the program and assistance for Strengthening Independence for PDF carried out by the center was only a stimulant, but for its sustainability of course it was the responsibility of the Regional Government (Pemda) in each program target area. "The role of the center later, after the implementation of the intervention, both in the aid distribution phase and the expenditure and reporting phase, then the center will carry out monitoring and evaluation of the program on a regular basis," said Syaiful.

Syaiful even hopes that if this program goes well, it is certain that hundreds of new entrepreneurs will be born and can move the wheels of the nation's economy. Of course this is a real proof of our contribution to the country.

Present as speakers at the Technical Guidance activity were the Head of Sub-Division of Administration (Head of Sub-Division of TU) BRSPDF "Wirajaya" Agustine Prabandari and Loade Armin as treasurer of BRSPDF "Wirajaya" who each delivered material on Technical Assistance Distribution and Reporting Mechanisms and Program Accountability.
