YOGYAKARTA (July 12, 2023) - The Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini had an active dialogue with 18 victims of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) to strengthen capacity in preparing for empowerment and entrepreneurship programs, at the Yogyakarta Social Welfare Education and Training Center (BBPPKS).
The 18 victims of TIP were previously promised by the perpetrators to work abroad with the lure of high salaries, but without official documents and had deposited money with the perpetrators in debt to various parties, so they were also in a lot of debt. During their stay at BBPPKS Yogyakarta, they receive rehabilitation and protection as well as social empowerment training and entrepreneurial opportunities according to the results of the assessment, so that later they can be economically independent and no longer entangled in similar things.
