Indonesian Delegation Present Social Protection Program for Children

VIENTIANE (18 November 2019) - Director of Child Social Rehabilitation, Kanya Eka Santi, attended the 14th ASEAN GO-NGO Forum on Social Welfare and Development in Vientiane, Laos. The meeting is an annual meeting held to discuss social welfare issues within the ASEAN plus three countries (Japan, Korea and China). In the meeting, Kanya became one of the “vocal points” who specifically explained about Social Protection for Children Living with Vulnerability and / or at-risk of Being Vulnerable.

On this occasion, Kanya was present as a delegation from Indonesia - the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia was accompanied by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Directorate of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Cooperation, namely Heru Prayetno and Audy Akbar Hasibuan. The two Ministries to are delegations of Indonesian representatives who will represent the condition of social welfare in Indonesia.

As a keynote speaker as well as a reactor on the issue of social protection for children, in his presentation Kanya Eka Santi conveyed various forms of child social protection programs that have been running in Indonesia and are intended to improve social welfare for Indonesian children, including the Outreach Program by Professional Social Workers in Emergency Response Cases Children and Families Hope Program by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, Healthy Indonesia Card, Smart Indonesia Card, and especially Indonesia must be involved in the preparation of the Action Plan 2021-2025 Children Social Protection in ASEAN which is the output of the meeting involving ten ASEAN countries.
