WEST LOMBOK
(20 February 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs, through the Paramita Children's Hall in Mataram, made the newest
innovation, "JADI EGO" which stands for Water Hyacinth Wall Clock in
Bahasa Indonesia.
This is the first watch created from water hyacinth. The innovation created
is the result of the hard work of the Beneficiary who is a Child Against the
Law (ABH).
I Ketut Supena, Head of the Paramita Children's Center, said that the Water
Hyacinth Wall Clock is a continuation of SAEGO's innovation, utilizing water
hyacinth, which has been considered as one of the enemies of farmers because
water hyacinth is believed to absorb the nutrients needed by rice.
The beneficiaries found not many obstacles in making "JADI EGO"
because the children had mastered the concept of water hyacinth plant
processing from harvesting to weaving. Making this water hyacinth wall clock
only takes two hours of work.
The children's skills in knitting these works cannot be separated from the
direction and motivation given by Supena every day. "I hope that the
children will continue to innovate to create products of economic value,
especially in the processing of this plant weed," added Supena.
MD as one of the beneficiaries who contributed to the "JADI EGO"
conveyed his optimism. "I have encountered no difficulties in making this
water hyacinth watch because I already have experience making other products
before," explained MD.
Currently, marketing is being carried out at the Parama Coffee outlet at the
Paramita Mataram Children's Hall. In the future, marketing will be carried out
on a digital platform according to market demand.
Furthermore, Supena said that it has been proven that the Social
Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program carried out by the Ministry of
Social Affairs can realize economic independence for Children Against
the Law (ABH).
