"Kartini" Center Conducts Case Response

PURBALINGGA (July 21, 2020) - The "Kartini" Center as the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs in Temanggung continues to strive to provide services to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PDI) in the era of adaptation to new habits through case response activities.

This case response activity was carried out based on a request letter from the Office of Social Affairs for Population Control and Family Planning for the Empowerment of Women and Children (DINSOSDALDUKBP3A) Purbalingga Regency. PDI on behalf of S became a victim of sexual harassment by his neighbor in the Tangkisan Village, Mrebet District, Purbalingga Regency.

The Case Response Team of the "Kartini" Center of Temanggung consisting of Social Workers and Psychologists coordinated with the DINSOSDALDUKBP3A of Purbalingga Regency and was received by the Head of Social Rehabilitation Section, Sugiyono. Next, the team together with Social Worker Service Unit, Ayu Utari went to Tangkisan village to coordinate with local stakeholders and conduct an assessment of the Beneficiaries (PM).

Based on the results of the assessment, it is known that the victim S is a PDI with moderate Mental Retardation, category (IQ: 51-55) with a social maturity age of 7 years 2 months. S, who has sufficient communication, social, personal and general self-help skills is currently living alone with his father after his mother died.

S's four older brothers are married and live separately. The PM received Tim's presence with a cheerful expression on his face, smiling a lot, the most important thing is that this case has been legally processed and the perpetrator has been sentenced to prison. This made PM's father feel more relieved.

The Case Response Team and local stakeholders agreed on a follow-up to the handling of the case by holding a Focussed Group Discussion (FGD) to get the best solution for S. The FGD was held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 attended by PM and his family, Chairman of RT Chamsiah, Head of Tangkisan Miswono Village, Kaur Welfare of Mrebet District Titin, Head of Social Rehab of DINSOSDALDUKBP3A of Purbalingga Tugiyono Regency, Manager of Social Protection Shelter "Darma Perwira", PPA Satreskrim Purbalingga Police Yunis Aqua, TKSK of Purbalingga Mega Ayu Regency and TKSK of Mrebet District, Andriyanto

This FGD resulted in several agreements, among them, families, especially fathers, need to give more attention and assistance to PM with supervision and support from the Neighborhood Association (RT) and local residents. If conditions have allowed stakeholders to support PM, they are referred for rehabilitation and assistance from competent institutions such as Kartini Big Hall Temanggung. All relevant parties will support and facilitate PM's needs if accepted at the "Kartini" Center of Temanggung. At the end of the meeting, PM received assistance for basic needs from the "Kartini" Center of Temanggung.
