BANJARNEGARA (May 28, 2020) - The Center for Social Rehabilitation of People with Intellectual Disabilities (BBRSPDI) "Kartini" in Temanggung continues to distribute basic social assistance for the poor, vulnerable and marginalized groups affected by COVID-19.

A total of 70 packages of social assistance for basic needs each worth Rp300,000 consisting of rice, cooking oil, biscuits, instant noodles, canned sardines, eggs, bath soap and laundry soap distributed to people with intellectual disabilities who are neglected groups in Banjarnegara district.

Applying the health protocol to prevent the spread of COVID-19, social assistance was symbolically distributed at the Gumiwang Village Hall, Purwanegara District, Banjarnegara Regency.

The Head of Administration at Temanggung "Kartini" Center, Lilik Darmadi, handed over 48 social assistance packages which were received by the representative of the Peduli Sheltered Workshop, Dadi Mulya, in Gumiwang Village. "The social assistance is given to those affected by COVID-19, especially the poor, vulnerable and marginalized so that they are able to survive in this pandemic situation," said Lilik in his speech.

Furthermore, 22 other basic food aids will be handed over directly to representatives of the Society for Persons with Disabilities in Gumelem Kulon Village as many as 13 packages and in Dermasari village 9 food packages in the Susukan District, Banjarnegara Regency.

The Head of the Division of Protection, Social Security and Social Rehabilitation of the Banjarnegara Regency Social Service, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (Dinsos P3A), Sri Winarni was also present in this social assistance distribution activity. "The Banjarnegara District Social Service would like to thank the "Kartini" Center in Temanggung which facilitates and provides assistance to people with disabilities in Banjarnegara Regency. Certainly, the assistance will be very beneficial for them," said Sri Winarni.

In 2020, Banjarnegara Regency received DAK from the Ministry of Social Affairs. "Everyone must work together to face this situation," added Sri.

The Head of Dadi Mulya Social Welfare Agency (LKS), Sri Hayati, who represented the recipients of social assistance, said that the COVID-19 pandemic situation was still ongoing, making people with disabilities increasingly limited in their activities, especially in doing batik activities. "On behalf of our friends and children, we would like to thank the Ministry of Social Affairs and the "Kartini" Center for the attention and assistance, which can be an encouragement in the midst of this pandemic. We are very grateful," continued Sri Hayati.

Meanwhile, Afiat, one of the intellectual disabilities recipients , also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Temanggung "Kartini".

In addition to Banjarnegara Regency, Temanggung "Kartini" Center distributed 769 social assistance packages for communities affected by COVID-19 in 7 other regencies/cities. This social assistance is different from the assistance of the Family Hope Program (PKH), Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) or Cash Social Assistance (BST). The basic necessities assistance distributed by Temanggung "Kartini" Center for Intellectual Disabilities is a budget refocusing as directed by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

This social assistance is expected to be able to help community groups displaced by COVID-19 so that they can survive and be able to get through this pandemic, which is not yet known to end.
