“Kartini” Center for Disability Launches Batik Motif Risma
JAKARTA
(7 May 2021)
- The Center for Disability Kartini Temanggung launched a new motif of splash
batik. The batik that people with disabilities will produce is called Batik
Risma.
The name Batik Risma was
sparked when Social Minister Tri Rismaharini came to the exhibition booth at
the Center for Disability Kartini Temanggung at the Ministry of Social Affairs'
office yard, Friday, May 7, 2021. In this place, Risma saw a variety of
splashed batik on display.
"She made the
sketches and designed the splashed batik by herself," explained the
Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat.
Harry, who accompanied
Risma while visiting the exhibition booth, suggested that the batik that was
designed by Risma be called Batik Risma. This was immediately responded
enthusiastically by the Head of the Center for Disabilities Kartini Temanggung,
Juena Sitepu.
"Ma'am, what if the
batik is named Batik Risma?" said Juena to Minister Risma.
Risma immediately replied
to the suggestion. "Well, sound’s good (called Batik Risma)," said
Risma with a laugh.
The former Mayor of
Surabaya for the two periods also called Adit, a person with a disability who
has been making splash batik. To Risma Adit also suggested that Risma's design
be referred to as Batik Ciprat Risma.
"I'll make the
picture again," joked Risma.
Risma also said that
batik is good for auction. "And the results (the money) will be for the
children later," said Risma.
