"Kartini" Center Temanggung Responds to Vulnerable Intellectual Disabilities Case

PURBALINGGA (March 2, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Kartini" Center in Temanggung carries out psychosocial assistance and needs assessment for WH (18 years), a Person with Intellectual Disabilities (PDI) through case response activities in Purbalingga Regency.

Based on information from the Office of Social Affairs, Population Control and Family Planning, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (DinsosdaldukKBP3A) Purbalingga Regency, WH families lack understanding in guiding WH who is Person with Intellectual Disabilities, so that until now WH have not been fully capable of self-help.
 
Sugiyono, Head of the Social Rehabilitation Section of the DinsosdaldukKBP3A Purbalingga Regency said that the family was willing and asked for recommendations so that the WH could obtain social rehabilitation services at the "Kartini" Center in Temanggung. The family hopes that the WH can participate in rehabilitation at the Center or orphanage so that she can be independent in their daily lives.

Based on the results of a comprehensive assessment by Social Workers and Psychologists from "Kartini" Center, WH still need assistance in Activity Daily Living (ADL), which is indicated by the lack of independence in daily life. This condition did not allow WH to participate in the Residential Social Rehabilitation Assistance program at the "Kartini" Center Temanggung.

"The "Kartini" Center Temanggung has criteria for prospective Beneficiaries (PM) who are able to educate and are able to train. For prospective PMs who have not met the requirements of the residential program, the "Kartini" Center has other recommendations, namely Home Care, Day Care services as well as referrals or referrals to institutions others that are in accordance with the characteristics and potential of the PM candidate," said Edi Prasetyo, Social Worker of the "Kartini" Center to the WH family.

After going through the process of discussing the case which was attended by the family, "Kartini" Center Temanggung officers, DinsosdaldukKBP3A Purbalingga Regency and representatives of the Kaliori Village government, Karanganyar District, Purbalingga Regency, it was decided that the recommendation for WH is a referral, namely being referred to the Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities managed by the Social Office of Central Java Province. "Kartini" Center Temanggung will act as a mediator so that WH can obtain social rehabilitation services according to their needs and potential.
