MEDAN (February 25, 2021) - Social problems are getting more complex day by day so that the strategy for handling them also requires innovation, including in handling the impact of this pandemic.

The Social Education Research and Counseling Agency (BP3S) through the Social Counseling Center (Puspensos) of the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to show its existence in handling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On this occasion Puspensos held Priority Social Extension activities with the theme "Realizing Social Resilience Villages through strengthening social participation and local community institutions in handling/preventing COVID-19"

"The real contribution that can be made in their participation in overcoming global social problems that are very crucial at this time is to carry out priority social counseling related to Handling the Social Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic," said Head of BP3S, Syahabuddin. Wednesday.24/02/2021.

According to him, social participation in the prevention of COVID-19 in the smallest scopes such as villages, hamlets, RWs, and even RT circles will be able to create a basis for preventing COVID-19 from the immediate environment.

Syahabuddin also added, if needed, strengthening local institutions in the village/sub-district as a driving force for the community would initiate the community to move together against the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time, the Head of Puspensos, Hasim said that social counseling would develop community behavior related to the prevention/handling of COVID-19 which was carried out in the form of delivering information and education.

"Capacity building is very important given to existing local institutional stakeholders as a form of transfer of knowledge, values ​​and skills so that they can convey and influence the community to jointly participate in handling COVID-19," said Hasim

For information, the resource persons in this activity presented members of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VIII, the Head of the Social Service of North Sumatra Province, the Head of the Social Service of Binjai Regency and the Head of the Social Office of Langkat Regency.

This activity was attended by 50 participants who are community stakeholders in the Binjai Regency and Langkat Regency, consisting of Religious Leaders, Youth / Youth Leaders (Karang Taruna, Youth Community), Traditional Leaders, Women Leaders and Village Apparatus.
