Laundry Business for Persons with Disabilities
TEMANGGUNG (April 28, 2021) - Laundry is one of the vocational training and entrepreneurship development at the "Kartini" Center for Disabilities Temanggung which aims to provide training towards independence for Beneficiaries (PM). This is in line with the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tri Rismaharini that all disabilities have the potential to be empowered so that they are able to try and earn their own income.
This laundry activity is carried out every Monday to Friday including receiving laundry, marking clothes, washing, drying, ironing, and packing. While Saturday and Sunday serve the reception and taking orders.
Laundry is fully carried out by the PM and accompanied by an instructor. The laundry process starts with receiving orders and separating baskets according to the customer. The washing process is separated by 1 person and 1 washing machine.
To avoid confusion, each garment was marked with a different colored ribbon marker. PM is also able to operate manual and digital washing machines with assistance.
The next stage is the drying process, after drying it is put into the basket separately, and followed by the ironing process. The last stage of the laundry is neatly packing each order and giving a note. The laundry is ready to be picked up by customers. All laundry processes are carried out independently by PM with assistance. The length of the laundry process is around 3-4 days with a price of IDR 4,000 per kilo.
Since it was opened to the public at the same time as the inauguration of the Kartini Temanggung Creation Center (SKA) last March, the laundry unit receives 15 kilograms of orders every day.
