PATI (June 26, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through Margo Laras Pati Center provides assistance and access to information for Joni, a person with visual sensory disability from Brebes Regency, Central Java who wants to receive vocational training so that he can live independently.

Previously, Joni through the YouTube social media channel of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, asked for information related to training centers for persons with visually sensory disabilities like himself (23/6).

Responding to the information from the Ministry of Social Public Relations, Margo Laras Center immediately followed up by contacting Joni via telephone.

“Now contact Joni, do an initial assessment via virtual or telephone and analyze his main needs. The Center’s psychologists and social workers are ready to assist if Joni needs psychological support, ATENSI assistance, or other things,” said Head of Subdivision for Administration of Margo Laras Center Syam Fathurrachmanda.

Margo Laras Center also coordinates with related parties such as the Brebes Regency Social Service, the Companion for Persons with Disabilities (PPD), TKSPD, Wyata Guna Bandung and Mahatmiya Bali Centers for further access to social rehabilitation, he added.

Through a telephone connection, Margo Laras Public Relations get the various information needed. Nur Rokhim or commonly called Joni, was born in Brebes, June 26, 1990, address at Kalijurang Village RT 005 RW 006, Tonjong District, Brebes Regency.

Based on the results of an in-depth interview by telephone, Joni has been blind since 2014, due to a head injury after falling when he was playing soccer. From 2015 to 2016 he sought treatment everywhere, both medical and alternative, to no avail. Until when he was examined at a hospital, he was sentenced by a doctor to suffer from glaucoma. The head injury worsened his glaucoma and affected the optic nerve, causing his vision to begin to decline.

"I fainted, as soon as I opened my eyes it started to get blurry and dark," said Joni. He lives with his mother because his father has passed away. His goal is to become a professional masseur so that he can earn an income and support his mother's economy, said Joni hopefully.

Following up on the results of the assessment, Margo Laras' team contacted the Brebes Social Service, and managed to contact Sifana, a Brebes companion for persons with disabilities who visited Joni the next day.

"Thank God I have met Joni directly. He is humble, easy-going, easy to get along with, and has very good communication. What he really needs right now is massage training, and after we conveyed some information about the Center’s existence, he was very enthusiastic and interested in registering at Wyata Guna Bandung. Now it is in the stage of filling out forms and sending registration files," explained Sifana.

Next, Margo Laras' public relations officer contacted the reception for Wyata Guna Bandung, and a quick response was given by providing a registration form and contact number for Wyata Guna officers that had been submitted to Sifana, who would oversee Joni's delivery to Bandung.

"Thank you Margo Laras Center for the quick response in providing information for me, and Mrs. Sifana, a companion with a disability, has visited. I want to learn massage, so that I can independently help my mother's economy as she grows older," said Joni when calling Margo Laras Center.

"Hopefully the accessibility support in the form of delivering information for persons with visual sensory disabilities will pave the way for their future in the midst of the darkness they experience," concluded Syam Fathurrachmanda.
