KUPANG (October 15th, 2019) - "Efata" Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Deaf and Speech Disabilities (BRSPDSRW) Kupang as a demonstration center in cooperation with West Kalimantan social services agency held a Sign Language System (SIBI) and Total Communication (KOMTAL) training for People with Deaf and Speech Disabilities (PDSRW) in West Kalimantan. Activities carried out from October 14-17 2019 were opened by Suwahyono as the Head of "Efata" BRSPDSRW Kupang and Yuline Marhensi as Head of Social Services.
"This activity aims to maximize communication among PDSRW. It is expected to help PDSRW in improving its social functioning, "Yuliane said. In addition, it is also hoped that PDSRW is able to utilize the services provided by the Social Service to improve its social functioning as much as possible.
The material presented is material about SIBI which is commonly used in daily communication. Not only in theory, this material was then practiced by participants. It is hoped that participants understand what has been taught. KOMTAL material is also provided to help PDSRW to maximize all the functions of the five senses in the communication process.
This activity was
attended by 50 PDSRW and 50 facilitator / Families from Pontianak City and
Kuburaya Regency, West Kalimantan Province. Through this activity
"Efata" BRSPDSRW Kupang hopes that people will increasingly
understand and love Sign Language as a form of support for the creation of an
Inclusive Indonesian society.
