NORTH ACEH (27 May 2024) - The peak of National Elderly Day (HLUN) will be held on 29 May 2024. The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) has carried out various series of HLUN activities since the beginning of May 2024 in North Aceh, one of which is constructing 27 units of Integrated Welfare Houses (RST) for the elderly. Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini strives not only to enhance the elderly's welfare in terms of health but also to ensure decent living for the elderly.

Minister Risma directed her team to construct RST for the elderly with inadequate housing. This RST includes a living area, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. MoSA's RST also includes home items, such as kitchen appliances.

Furthermore, MoSA offers entrepreneurship aid to the elderly who are still productive in their old age. Many elderly people in North Aceh remain active in selling traditional foods and running convenience stores during retirement. The Ministry of Social Affairs built 27 RSTs for the aged in 27 districts in North Aceh Regency.

The Ministry of Social Affairs' efforts to provide a decent life for the elderly were greeted with joy by Saddam, Head of Ulee Gampong Village, whose residents also received RST. "I am very pleased with the assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs. This program is excellent, and I hope it will continue," he remarked. Mrs. Ainsyah (87), in Saddam's opinion, needs this support. Besides her advanced age, her house was no longer livable, particularly with its earthen floor and distant bathroom. The RST, which began construction on 15 May 15 2024, was finished thanks to the cooperative efforts of village officials, inhabitants, and Tagana.

“Thank God, now I am happy the house is much better. Previously, it was poor, but now it is good. The toilet was far away, now the toilet is in the house. Thank you, Minister of Social Affairs. I hope the Minister is always healthy," said Ainsyah with great joy.
