“Minaula” Elderly Social Rehabilitation Workshop (LRSLU) Conducts Module Trial for The Elderly

KONAWE (October 14th, 2019) - “Minaula” Elderly Social Rehabilitation Workshop (LRSLU) Kendari conducted a trial of the Social Care Module, Family Support and Therapy for the Elderly. This activity involves facilitators of the Elderly Social Welfare Institution (LKS LU), the elderly and elderly families as participants.

This is a continuation of the module drafting activities of Capacity Building for Officers and Assistance for LU Purpose (BANTU LU) which was carried out in the previous week. This trial was carried out at LKS HCDI (Home Care Danakang Indonesia) Soropia, Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi.

The activity was carried out from 12-15 October 2019. Officers of "Minaula" LRSLU Ternate, Riki Firmansyah and Danang Prasetya coordinated with the LCD HCDI regarding the technical activities to be carried out. Then the LCD HCDI conducted a trial for BANTU LU by being coached by officers from the "Minaula" LRSLU Kendari. Trials conducted on three elderly included social care, livelihood therapy, and family support in the form of a Family Meeting.

Social care is applied to Mr. M, such as Personal Care. The facilitator helped cut his nails and bathe Mr.M. This was done because Mr.M had been bedridden for seven years due to his stroke. According to him, he feels happy when someone takes care of him. This is because in his daily life Mr. M was left alone at home, while his grandchildren were busy as an online taxi driver.

The next activity is providing livelihood therapy to potential elderly people who are considered capable of making a craft, so that it is expected that these activities can fill the elderly's leisure time, entertain the elderly and produce works of value that can ultimately increase the income of the elderly.

This family support activity in the form of a family meeting was facilitated by Rizal as HCDI companion of Mrs. Asma who has a dispute problem with the regional government due to a misunderstanding. "I feel more peaceful when this problem is solved with my family. Before that I was often pensive when I think about this problem," said Asma

After going through a series of trial activities for the BANTU LU module, the facilitators were very enthusiastic about the BANTU LU trial activity.

"If possible, I want to learn about other therapies because it is very useful for the elderly, especially the elderly in Soropia, Konawe," Rizal said.
