Minister of Social Affairs Observes Jakarta Floods by Boat

By riding a rubber boat, on Thursday (2/1) afternoon, the Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara with two Deputy Chairpersons of the House of Representatives Commission VIII, Ace Hasanudin and Marwan Dasopang, observed the location of the flood affected in Bidara Cina, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

This review is also to ensure that thousands of people affected by flooding in the region have received logistical support, especially for basic needs.

The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Directorate General of Social Protection and Security, has distributed logistical assistance worth 4 million rupiahs for DKI Jakarta, West Java and Banten. The assistance is in the form of fast food, family and kitchen equipments, and cleaning tools as well.

Besides Bidara China, the Minister of Social Affairs also visited evacuation posts in Cawang and Cipinang Melayu. Symbolically, the Minister of Social Affairs gave heir compensation of 15 billion rupiahs to each families of the died victims. As of Thursday afternoon, there were 26 temporary victims from the flood that struck Jabodetabek.
