JAKARTA (October 13, 2020) - The ASEAN Children Forum (ACF) is one of the routine activities carried out by countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). As delegates from Indonesia, 4 children were chosen to represent Indonesia to voice their ideas. The four come from several regions in Indonesia, namely Ema Dilsiana from the Bekasi Modern Diakoneia Campus Foundation (KDM), representatives of the National Children's Forum (FAN), namely Belva Rehardini from Solo, and Abdul Gilang Tawakkal from Makassar, and finally representatives from friends. autistic The Indonesian Autism Foundation, namely M. Lukman Ibrahim Salim from Jakarta.

The signing of the Hanoi Declaration on The Enhancement of Welfare and Development of ASEAN Women and Children by all ASEAN countries is a sign that all ASEAN countries have agreed to provide a forum as a forum for children to express their ideas and listen to children's aspirations. . This activity is held every two years with the host countries of ASEAN alternately. Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it did not prevent all children from participating in this ACF. This year, Cambodia hosted the 6th ACF with the theme "The Impact of COVID-19 and the Current Situation on Children" which was held online.

Through the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, which is commanded by the Director of Child Social Rehabilitation, Kanya Eka Santi, in collaboration with the Planning Bureau, Mentors for the Indonesian delegation from "Handayani"
Children's Center Jakarta, Tirani Larasati, and other facilitators from the Indonesian Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) together facilitated Indonesian children to join and prepare all the materials for this 6th ACF activity. "It must be supported, this is the time for Indonesian children to show their abilities in the international arena, we will discuss the material and escort it with the younger siblings so that they can show their best," said Kanya.

The activity began with remarks by the Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio Cultural Community, H.E. Kung Phoak which was then followed by the performance of a traditional Cambodian dance, Whising Dance by Cambodian children. Khung Phoak briefly told the mission of implementing the ACF from year to year and his hopes for all children in ASEAN even in the midst of this pandemic. "There are so many positive things you can do during a pandemic. You can improve your skills and can also learn new things. ACF is a place to share experiences and find the best solution in dealing with COVID-19 which comes directly from the voices of children," said Kung Phoak.

Furthermore, the activity was officially opened by the Secretary of State of Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation of Cambodia, H.E Samheng Boros. He was grateful and at the same time proud to have the opportunity to host the 6th ACF even though it was only through an internet connection. He hopes that this ACF can be a reminder that can encourage all of us to better understand the feelings of children and of course can protect our children from COVID-19. "Please give as many recommendations as possible, because we want to hear directly from your voices," Samheng pesan messaged

The activity continued with the presentation of each country with a predetermined theme. The Indonesian delegation confidently presented material on "Mental Health and Recovery" which began with an explanation of the factual conditions in Indonesia that they felt were facing COVID-19. Previously, the Indonesian delegation conducted a survey of 340 Indonesian children regarding the impact of COVID-19. Based on the survey results, it is known that boredom is the basis felt by Indonesian children which ultimately affects mental health. This is exacerbated by the conditions of the family and community environment affected by COVID-19. Starting from the number of parents who were laid off from their jobs and causing the family's economic conditions to shrink until it affected the online learning process which requires internet data and adequate gadgets.

However, this did not break the spirit of Indonesian children. There are many good things that can be learned during the quarantine period, such as creating motivational projects, joining self-development forums, attending seminars, and being able to build more bonds with parents and family. The presentation ended with the provision of recommendations for all ASEAN countries and for parents, especially recommendations related to treatment to reduce boredom during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This activity was interspersed with material from the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the LEGO Group. All children were given an understanding of preventing the COVID-19 pandemic in the new normal era, given ways to play on the internet or use gadgets wisely so that they could improve skills, as well as questions and answers about COVID-19. All delegates from ASEAN countries, especially the Indonesian delegation, can show their activeness by asking questions and expressing opinions.

The activity closed with an ASEAN song performance sung by each country's representatives and a review of recommendations from all countries in ASEAN. Furthermore, the 7th ACF activity will be held in 2022 where Indonesia will host the event.
