JAKARTA (November 6, 2024) – Welcoming the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) held an audience with various parties. One of them was Angkie Yudistia, a sociopreneur who is also a former special staff of the president for social affairs, at the office of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs on Wednesday (11/6/2024).
Gus Ipul emphasized the need for concrete steps to realize this concession, especially related to the implementation of Law No. 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities, seven government regulations, and two relevant presidential regulations.
M. O. Royani as the Director of Social Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities at the Ministry of Social Affairs who was also present at the audience said that there were three key messages in the commemoration of IDPD, namely increasing the leadership of persons with disabilities to actively participate in the decision-making process; inclusivity where persons with disabilities and non-disabilities both have equal opportunities to work; and sustainability.
This audience affirmed the Ministry of Social Affairs' commitment to prioritizing the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities through inclusive and sustainable policies, so that persons with disabilities can play an active role in society, in accordance with the theme of this year's Disability Day celebration, namely amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.
