JAKARTA (27 July 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Trauma Center Protection House (RPTC) in collaboration with foreign mass organizations partners Tearfund UK and the Rebana Foundation as Tearfund UK's local partner in Indonesia, again distributed cash assistance and hygiene kits to 77 victims of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO).
Dian Bulan Sari, Head of Sub-Directorate for Social Rehabilitation of Victims of Trafficking in Persons and Victims of Violence who represents the Director of Social Rehabilitation for Persons with social deviance issues and Victims of Trafficking in Persons (RTS&KPO) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, conveyed that assistance was given to 20 ABK (Crew Ship) victims of TIP and 57 women victims of TIP from Syria.
"This is the 6th stage ofCash Assistance, the last stage of a total of 304 assistance provided to the victims," said Dian.
Cash assistance provided in the form of electronic money via Brizzi card amounting to Rp. 600,000, - which they can disburse at Bank BRI or Indomaret when they return to their hometown. In addition, clients are also given hygiene kits in the form of masks, hand sanitizers and information brochures related to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
“During the RPTC of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the victims of TIP have undergone a social rehabilitation process. The rehabilitation services are in the form of advocating for information on proper migration according to official government procedures, trauma healing and group therapy provided by social workers. In addition, every morning they do gymnastics and sunbathe, then dissemination is given about human trafficking, victims of violence," said Dian.
In addition, dissemination was given to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic, such as wearing masks, maintaining personal hygiene and health, maintaining endurance, how to exercise regularly, eating balanced nutrition and adequate rest, to government directives to practice physical distancing.
Law Number 21 of 2007 on the Crime of Trafficking in Persons and Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 69 of 2008 on the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons mandates the Ministry of Social Affairs in handling TIP to carry out victim protection which includes rehabilitation, repatriation and social reintegration.
Based on the Minister of Social Affairs Regulation No. 30 of 2017 on the repatriation of Migrant Citizens Victims of Trafficking in Persons from Malaysia to their Areas of Origin, it is stated that the purpose of repatriating Indonesian Citizens M KPO is to return them to their area of origin and reunite with their families, communities and social environment.
