INDRAMAYU (March 30, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Ciungwanara" Disability Center conducts Case Response in Balongan Village, Indramayu Regency to Victims of the RU-IV Balongan Oil Refinery Explosion belonging to PT. Pertamina (Persero). The explosion occurred on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 01.00 in the morning, meanwhile the cause of the explosion at the Pertamina oil refinery is still being summarized, there are several parties who said that the explosion was due to the quite old refinery tank and there are also those who said that it was struck by lightning.

So far, 6 people have died due to the explosion of the Pertamina RU-IV tank and 500 houses have been damaged. The 6 victims suffered severe burns and are in intensive care at Pertamina Central Hospital, Jakarta.

As a form of responsibility from the PT. Pertamina (Persero) is to provide shelters equipped with ready-to-eat food supplies for residents whose houses are damaged, such as damaged ceilings, cracked walls, and broken glass windows.

The "Ciungwanara" Disability Center along with with "Tan Miyat" Disability Center and "Pangudi Luhur" Disability Center Bekasi coordinated with the Indramayu Regency Social Office and the Head of Balongan Village, in the process of distributing social assistance consisting of basic necessities, blankets, children's diapers, and laundry detergent.

These three Technical Implementation Units (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs previously reported themselves to the Indramayu Regency Social Office regarding the purpose of their arrival. The group was received by the Head of the Child and Elderly Social Rehabilitation Section, Abdul Karim. He expressed his gratitude for the attention and assistance given to Indramayu Regency citizens.

"We thank you very much for the attention from the Ministry of Social Affairs, hopefully the assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs can relieve the sadness of the affected residents," said Karim.

Next, the case response team was directed to the Balongan Village Head Office for the process of handing over social assistance. Radi, as the Head of Balongan Village, welcomed the purpose of the visit. This Social Assistance is a form of ATENSI Implementation. A total of 50 food packages and 1 unit of a wheelchair were given to the "Ciungwanara" Disability Center for victims of the oil refinery explosion in Balongan Village, Indramayu Regency.

Radi said that this explosion was the second explosion after the first explosion in 2019, but this explosion was the largest explosion that made the fire at the RU-IV Oil Refinery difficult to extinguish until this morning. As an oil refinery spread throughout Southeast Asia, the task of the RU-IV Oil Refinery is to process raw materials for the manufacture of fuel such as Pertamax, Pertalite, Premium, and Solar.

After the handover of social assistance with the Balongan Village, the "Ciungwanara" Disability Center Group led by the Head of the "Ciungwanara" Disability Center, Siti Sari Rumayanti, carried out Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) for victims of the refinery explosion at the evacuee camp located at Bumi Patra Housing Pertamina.

The LDP given by the social worker includes trauma healing through inculcating positive values ​​in oneself so that fear and anxiety is reduced to welcome a better next day.

One of the evacuees with the initials M recounted the moment when the explosion occurred. "I was sleeping, suddenly there was a very loud sound, until the glass broke in the house, so since then I became afraid and easily startled when there was a loud sound," said M.

Meanwhile, Occupational Therapy provides therapeutic service management for stroke sufferers who are victims of factory explosions by providing education to families to practice sitting in a wheelchair, doing stretching for limbs that have decreased muscle strength and providing moral support for stroke sufferers to improve their performance and make them always eager to practice.
