CIANJUR (October 24, 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through "Handayani" Children's Center in Jakarta again received information about children in emergency situations in Cianjur, West Java. This time, information was obtained from the Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation. In this information, it is known that there are two children "NM" and "RK" who live in a hut that is unfit for habitation.

Responding to this information, the Head of "Handayani" Children's Center, Neni Riawati, gave directions and tasks to Social Workers to immediately conduct searches according to SOPs, conduct assessments and analyze children's needs.

"Handayani" Children's Center Social Worker immediately went to the child's home address to immediately respond to the case. Accompanied by the Head of Welfare, Rahmat, Village Police, Ahmad Zaenuman, as well as the Police, and the TNI, the Social Worker was finally able to meet the two children. Based on the results of the assessment, it is known that "NM" and "RK" live with their parents in a hut that their father made himself from tarpaulins from banners and unused cloth which were gifts from local residents.

"NM" and "RK" are 4 years and 4.5 months old. They are not local natives and live on land owned by Perhutani. Their father does not work and only relies on his ability to grow crops on the grounds that he cannot work. Their father suffers from gout and stomach pain, so their mother earns a living by selling vegetables owned by residents with the results divided by two.

Every day the two children join in selling with their mother and do not want to be left with their father. To fulfill their daily needs, they only rely on income from their mother and the compassion of local residents. The COVID-19 pandemic has also made it more difficult for "NM" and "RK" parents to make a living. The parents of the two children currently do not have a family card, birth certificate and no marriage certificate. Social Worker Serve Unit (Sakti Pesos) has synergized with the local village for the management of the population and is currently in the process of making it. "NM" and "RK" until now have never received assistance from the government because they are not recorded in the population file.

When an assesment was carried out on the mother of "NM" and "RK", it was found that their mother had received violent treatment from her husband, but now he has stopped the violence due to monitoring of the police. "NM" and "RK" never play with their peers because they always follow their mother who sells vegetables.

"NM" and "RK" were given nutritional and nutritional assistance in the form of milk, vitamins, biscuits, other supporting foods, foam beds, pillows and bolsters. Furthermore, periodic monitoring of the child will be carried out. "Handayani" Children's Center has also synergized with the Social Work Unit and the local Social Office to jointly provide protection and assistance for the two children.
