Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Emergency Aid for Elderly Dompu Flood Victims
DOMPU (April 26, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa distributed Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) assistance for the elderly affected by the flood disaster in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province.
Previously on (1/3/2021) flash floods hit three villages in Hu'u District in Dompu Regency, namely Daha Village, Rasabou Village, and Marada Village, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB). The flood washed away dozens of houses. As many as 60 houses were reported to have suffered heavy damage.
In accordance with the direction of the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini that the Centers must respond quickly to social problems that occur, the "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa is moving quickly in providing social protection for elderly flood victims. Through coordination with the Provincial Social Office, Dompu Regency Social Office, and Elderly Social Service Agency (LKS-LU), the Center has collected data on the number of elderly affected by the floods and an assessment of their needs.
Based on this assessment, assistance was distributed to the elderly affected by the floods. The distribution was attended by the Regent of Dompu, Deputy Regent of Dompu, Regional Secretary of Dompu, Chair of the Social Welfare Coordinating Institution (LKKS) of Dompu Regency as well as Chair of the PKK mobilizing team, Chair of the LKS-LU and the Center Team.
The Head of the Service and Social Rehabilitation Section, Abdul Malik conveyed the details of the assistance provided. "The ATENSI assistance provided is emergency assistance distributed through two LKS-LU worth IDR254 million for 254 elderly people in Dompu Regency," said Malik.
"The two LKS are LKS-LU Loa Dompu which distributed assistance to 133 elderly people and LKS-LU Sama Lampa for 121 elderly people," he added.
Head of Dompu Regency LKKS who is also the head of the PKK mobilizing team, Lilis expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Center who have provided assistance to elderly flood victims.
"We express our deep gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Center who have given attention to our residents, especially the elderly," said Lilis in her remarks.
In the distribution which was carried out at the Bali Village Head Office, Dompu Regency, an elderly person named Aminah (73 years) expressed her happiness when she received assistance.
"I am grateful for the assistance provided because as a result of this disaster my house was damaged and food supplies were not sufficient for daily food needs," said Aminah.
