Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Prosthetic Assistance to Persons with Physical Disabilities (PDF) in West Kalimantan
SAMBAS (October 18th, 2019) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through "Prof. Dr. Soeharso" Center for Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Physical Disabilities (BBRSPDF) Surakarta provided five units of prosthetic assistance (body tool replacement) to Physical Disability Persons (PDF) in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan.
Prosthetic assistance provided by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs for five Physical Disability Persons Sambas Regency is part of the 16 Units resulting from the 2019 Orthose Protestant Service Model Development Program. Another 11 units are intended for 10 Physical Disability Persons in East Java Province (Malang, Kediri Regency, Madiun Regency and Magetan Regency), which was handed over on September 29th, 2019 at East Java Social Service Agency.
"As humans, we must be lack in many things. But don't let yourself feel inadequate, and that is why humans strengthen one another," said a piece of motivation delivered by the Regent of Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan Province, Atbah Rohim Suhaili. He then paired five prosthesis units for five Physical Disability Persons.
Munziri (14 years old) is a recipient of a prosthesis. He had dropped out of school when he was in 3rd grade because he was made fun of by his classmates. "I am happy after having a fake hand, and I want to go to school again," he said.
Munziri's noble intentions were welcomed by Edi, Secretary of Sambas regency Community and Village Empowerment Social Service Agency. "We will coordinate to related agencies as long as Munziri can go to school," he said.
